Oh Germans.

We watched this at the beginning of my German class. I missed the professor's introduction to this video, so I was so confused.

EVEN SHIRLEY TEMPLE HAS AN IPHONE.

Ripped this image from worth1000.com

Entries had to incorporate a modern touch to old technology. This is the best one I've seen, but they're all pretty awesome.

Omg. What A Great Idea.

I have to do this. I will do this. One day. When Lake Ontario isn't so polluted. It will be done.

Ps. please ignore the topless nudity seen in the first couple of minutes in this video. They're French. Give 'em a break.

I'm still having trouble embeding videos... Anyone else have trouble with this? I highlight the whole link youtube gives for embing the video and I paste it and all I get is the part of the link that is shown in the box.

HAHAHA.

Hilarious. (I'd embed this but I can't)

I plan on redoing this video.

Alesander Rodchenko

This is another artist I used as an influence for a project I did in high school. You might have seen a piece that was inspired by his work on the album art of Franz Ferdinand CD.

His work inspires a lot of interest in me since most art and any freedom of speech and expression was always controlled in Russia during the time Rodchenko was creating his work. His ideas were nothing less of interesting. However, many people now may not exactly realize how groundbreaking his ideas were.

I believe he helped the evolution of design and brought a new creative nature to the table.

Fiona Hooley

Here's another one of my favorite artists EVER! Fiona Hooley works in vectors and uses her own photography for manipulation. Lately its been her photography has been her main focus, but her vector work still astounds me. "No Girl So Sweet" is another work that has helped me realize that something simple as line and varying the thickness and placement in relation to other lines can achieve so much beauty and complexity to piece.

Here's the piece I'm talking about:

June Kim

One of my favorite artists EVER. You might have seen her work on the Jet "Get Born" album (if not, google it, its worth the minute!). Since finding her work, I have been rather obsessed with the, seemingly simple, use of line and space to create something absolutely stunning and complex.

Or you can go here! Her website has a great selection of her work, including her work from the Jet album.
